
Leonard Wayne Cooley Sr., 78, of Indianapolis, passed away on January 2, 2017. He was born on June 11, 1938 in Bradsfordsville, KY to Frank and Delitha Cooley. Leonard graduated from Warren Central High School in Indianapolis; as well as the Indianapolis Police Academy.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean Conflict. Leonard retired from the Ford Motor Company. He also worked for the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, West Bakery, and dabbled as a Locksmith.
He enjoyed auctions, sculpting, fishing, and locksmithing.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Inez; sons, Len (Shirley) Cooley Jr. and Darryl (Debbie) Cooley; sister, Juanita Rayens; grandchildren, Bronze (Angela) Cooley, Jessica (Aubrey) Cooley, and Mikayla Cooley; great grandchildren, Bryce Cooley, Dakota Cooley; and step-great-grandchildren, Annie Webber, and Helen O’Haver. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Sarah Makenzie Cooley; siblings, Donald Cooley, Alvin Cooley, Jim Cooley, Randall Cooley, Norma Jean Roberson and Geneva Carolyn Wineinger.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Hunter Road Bible Church, 2273 S. Hunter Road, Indianapolis, IN. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until service time.
